Take Great Engagement Photos

With wedding season nearly upon us, it might be time to think about those engagement photo sessions.  When you have the perfect photo session, you want to remember it for years.  With the Pioneer Photo Albums from Store Photos, you can keep those memories together forever.  But you need to make sure that you get great photos first!

Here are some tips:

  • Bold colors, unique ideas, and fun themes can help represent you as a couple.  After all, you want to look back at these pictures 30 years from now and see a reflection of your life together.
  • Try using tons of props!  It’s an easy way to become comfortable in front of the camera, too.  We’ve all had moments where we’ve wondered what to do with our hands in a picture… and if you use props, that gets a lot easier.  Think about bicycles, parasols, balloons, hats, etc.
  • Showcase a hobby that the two of you share.  You can even include some exciting action shots.  Skiing, dancing, boating, and playing board games are some fun ideas.  Let the photographer shoot you and your fiancé in your element—try not to pose.
  • Adding effects of colors is interesting and appealing, as well.  Photo editing software can help you achieve this.  Make the photos sepia toned, black and white, or fuzzy around the edges.  Have fun!

You can create a truly memorable engagement album.

Scrapbooking your Child’s Artwork

Your kids are probably some of the most creative people you know.  Over the years, they’re going to bring home a lot of art projects.  Some of their artwork can be easily glued into a scrapbook with the right adhesive.  Others are a little more difficult to manage—either because they’re bulky or three-dimensional.

It’s simple to photograph your child’s artwork.  If it can fit on top of your scanner, you can simply scan it, too.  To photograph it, however, just find a spot in your home that has good lighting and little background clutter.  If you need to, place a solid-colored sheet on a wall and place the artwork in front of it.  Take several photos to ensure that you really get a good shot.

Print your photos on archival quality paper—and use archival ink.  Make sure each print is no smaller than 5×7.  This is the best way to enjoy your child’s artwork.

Once you have the photos ready, you can begin putting your scrapbook together.  Try keeping embellishments to a minimum.  This ensures that the main focus of the page is your child’s artwork.  Give each piece of art a title—but avoid using ribbons, glitter, or other embellishments that can be distracting.

Make sure you keep your child’s artwork safe in a scrapbook!  Enjoy it for years to come.

  • It’s interesting to explore different angles of the flower.  Try finding a nice side view of the flower.  Even better, try lying on the ground and pointing your camera back up at the flower.
  • You can get under the flower and position the sun directly behind the bloom.  This is a great way to achieve interesting glows, flares, and sunbursts with the light.
  • Have you ever thought about carrying a spray bottle around with you?  Lightly spray water onto flower petals to create a sense of dew or rain water droplets.
  • Try grouping different colors together, also.

When you’re ready to put your springtime scrapbook together, you can get everything you need right here at Store Photos.  From the photo albums to the refill pages, we’ve got you covered.

  • The inventor of the glue stick was inspired by women’s lipstick containers.  Glue sticks hit the market in 1969, and have revolutionized the way we stick things together.
  • Many glue sticks are made for children, so they’re washable and non-toxic.  The glue sticks you’ll find here at Store Photos are acid-free and perfect for scrapbooking.  Children should use these with adult supervision.  (That goes for all glue sticks, though.)
  • Because glue sticks are solid, as long as the cap is replaced, they won’t dry out and will last quite some time.  Because they last so long, glue sticks are a very economical solution for your scrapbooking needs.
  • Here at Store Photos, we have regular glue sticks, large glue sticks, square glue sticks, embellishment glue sticks, and a glue stick pen.  No matter what kind of item you need to stick to your scrapbook page, you can find the right glue stick here!

Once you start using glue sticks, you’ll find that you’re really “stuck” for life!  They’re easy and fun to use, and they can help you create some beautiful memories.
